The DAVIarena, Medellín’s newest venue with a capacity of 17,200 people, will open its doors this year with a concert by Colombian rocker Juanes. Formerly known as Arena Primavera, the state-of-the-art building operated by BeatHub Entertainment will officially open its doors on November 14 with a concert promoted by Breakfast Live featuring the local star. The venue, which is expected to host over 600,000 guests and 75 events annually, was rebranded following a COP 320 billion (€72.6 million) investment from Colombian bank Davivienda earlier this month. Shows at the arena are also projected to boost tourism by 30%, underscoring the importance of the country’s newest stadium, which will be located 15 km south of Medellín's city center, in the Aburrá Valley. “DAVIarena is a sign of confidence for promoters, artists, and everyone involved in the industry,” says Eduardo Olea, CEO of BeatHub Entertainment. “It is the infrastructure that allows Colombia to compete at a higher level and continue consolidating its position as a key destination for international tours.” It will become Medellín’s main venue, Colombia’s second-largest city, strengthening the country’s arena options for regional tours. Medellín is also home to Latin superstars such as Karol G, Feid, and J Balvin. The Colombian market currently has two key arenas: Coliseo Live (with a capacity of 24,000 people) and Movistar Arena (with a capacity of 12,000 people), both located in the capital, Bogotá.

“At Davivienda, we believe in Colombia and in the transformative power of cities like Medellín: a symbol of innovation that has produced some of the world’s best artists and is now ready to attract the planet’s most important musical experiences,” says Javier Suárez, president of Davivienda. “DAVIarena will open new opportunities for thousands of young people to enjoy world-class shows and imagine themselves performing on internationally renowned stages one day.” This sponsorship agreement is noteworthy, as it marks the first time a Colombian financial company has promoted a building dedicated to live entertainment.
This state-of-the-art venue will feature a 140-ton rigging system, capable of accommodating complex productions, along with sustainability-focused systems, windows, and cooling systems to minimize energy consumption, in addition to a wide variety of premium options across its five floors. Designed by HOK, the prestigious architectural firm responsible for iconic venues such as London’s O2 Arena, Valencia’s Roig Arena, and Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the project has been developed by CLK Group, a consortium comprising Tuboleta, Movistar Arena, promoter TBL Live, specialized food company Venues Snacks, and Thunder Production.
BeatHub is a leading entertainment company in the country, specializing in ticketing, venue management, and concert promotion. It is also involved in the administration of Bogotá’s Movistar Arena. Elsewhere in Latin America, Juanes is also set to debut at a two-day festival in Santiago, Chile, alongside Lotus, this October. The Colombian star will headline the inaugural edition of Festival Bamba, taking place October 24-25 at Parque O'Higgins, alongside Marc Anthony, Fito Páez, and Carlos Vives.
